At False Creek Eye Care Optometry, we want to help you understand the underlying causes of dry eye and guide you towards a comfortable, clear-sighted future.

So, what can cause dry eyes?

Several culprits can be at play:

  • Age: As we get older, our tear production naturally decreases.

  • Environment: Dry air, wind, and smoke can evaporate tears quickly.

  • Digital devices: Staring at screens for extended periods reduces blinking, essential for tear distribution.

  • Medical conditions: Autoimmune diseases and allergies can affect tear quality and quantity.

  • Medications: Some medications, like antihistamines, can contribute to dry eyes.
